Nanoinfusion and LED Light Therapy, Explained

Nanoinfusion sounds like a marketing rebrand of microneedling, but the depth is the whole point of the difference. Traditional needling creates channels deep enough to trigger a wound-healing response on its own; nanoinfusion uses a device like the Dermalogica Pro Pen to create far shallower, hair's-width channels — too shallow to injure skin or require downtime, but enough to briefly open the stratum corneum's normal barrier function. That's the actual value: it's a delivery method, not a treatment in its own right. Actives applied in that window bypass the slow diffusion process they'd otherwise need to cross intact skin, landing where they can actually do something instead of evaporating off the surface.
LED light therapy works on a completely different mechanism — it isn't chemical at all, it's photobiomodulation. Red light in roughly the 630–700 nanometre range is absorbed by mitochondria inside skin cells, and that absorption is linked to increased ATP production and greater fibroblast activity — the cells responsible for making collagen. Blue light, closer to 415 nanometres, works differently again: it targets porphyrins, byproducts produced by the same bacteria implicated in acne, which is why blue-light protocols are more often paired with congested or breakout-prone skin than an anti-ageing goal.
