Niacinamide, Explained

Niacinamide (vitamin B3) is one of the most well-tolerated active ingredients in skincare, which is exactly why it turns up throughout our Dermalogica-based treatment menu regardless of skin type.

Structurally, it supports the skin's own barrier by helping cells produce ceramides — so skin holds onto moisture better on its own, rather than depending entirely on what's applied topically.

It also regulates sebum (oil) production, which is why it helps with both an oily T-zone and the visible size of pores over consistent use, and it interrupts the transfer of pigment to skin cells — meaning it gradually fades post-inflammatory marks left behind by breakouts or irritation.

Because it's so gentle, it's one of the few actives that layers well with almost everything else — which is why you'll find it in our SkinBoost Treatment and woven through several of our brightening and calming programs rather than sold as a single stand-alone product.
