3 Ingredients Your Skin Barrier Actually Loves

Your skin barrier — the outermost layer — is what keeps moisture in and irritants out. When it's compromised (from over-exfoliating, harsh weather, or just reactive skin), everything else gets harder: actives sting more, redness lingers, and dryness feels impossible to fix. Repairing the barrier first is usually what actually solves it.

Ceramides are lipids that physically fill the gaps between skin cells, the same way mortar holds bricks together — without enough of them, moisture escapes and irritants get in more easily.

Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) converts into vitamin B5 once absorbed, and is one of the best-studied ingredients for calming visible redness and supporting the skin's own repair processes.

Glycerin is a humectant — it draws water into the skin's surface layer and holds it there, which is why it shows up in almost every hydrating formula regardless of skin type.

This is exactly the trio behind our Environmental Treatment and PRO Calm Treatment — both built for reactive, barrier-compromised skin rather than pushing actives it isn't ready for yet.
