SkinBoost Treatment: Why the Same Facial Comes in Three Modes
September 12, 2026

You booked a hydrating facial last time and liked how your skin felt afterwards. Does that mean Hydrating should be your automatic choice next time? Not necessarily — and not because you need something stronger. The useful starting point is what you want help with today. SkinBoost offers three named options, Soothing, Purifying and Hydrating, so the conversation can begin with your current cosmetic concerns rather than a favourite label.
Our SkinBoost Treatment is listed as a 90-minute, customisable service. The menu confirms the three options, but it does not publish a separate ingredient list or step-by-step protocol for each. That matters: the names describe directions for the consultation, not a reason to assume a particular acid, extraction method, device or Dermalogica product will be used. Ask which steps and products are planned for your appointment before deciding.
Soothing is the option to ask about when comfort is your main concern. Perhaps your usual routine has started feeling unpleasant, or you have noticed that your face feels tight after cleansing. Describe what you experience and when it began, rather than deciding for yourself that your skin simply needs a more intensive facial. Soothing is a cosmetic service name, not a promise to manage a rash or a medical condition. Persistent burning, a new rash or painful changes should be discussed with a doctor; sometimes the sensible decision is to postpone a facial.
Purifying is the direction to discuss when surface oiliness or a congested-looking complexion is what bothers you. It should not be read as 'make the skin as dry as possible' or as a detox claim. The American Academy of Dermatology’s oily-skin guidance recommends gentle cleansing rather than harsh washing and still includes moisturiser for oily skin. That is helpful context for the conversation: wanting a fresher feel does not mean every moisturising step is the wrong choice. The actual SkinBoost steps still need to be confirmed with us.
Hydrating is the option to ask about when dryness or a less supple feel is your priority. Moisturising care helps hold water in the skin; it is not the same thing as adding every possible layer or choosing the richest texture available. The AAD’s basic skincare guide explains the role of moisturiser and notes that combination skin can be dry in some areas and oily in others. So a shiny nose does not settle what your cheeks need. Tell us about both rather than choosing a mode from one feature alone.
Imagine two visits to d’reena in Seremban. At the first, your main complaint is an oily-looking forehead. At the second, your cheeks feel uncomfortable and your usual cleanser no longer feels pleasant. Those are different conversations, even if you have always called your skin oily. Mention any changes in your routine, recent services and products you have stopped or started. You do not need to prove whether the cause was the weather, a busy week or a particular ingredient. Useful observations are enough to begin; a beauty consultation should not turn a guess into a diagnosis.
You also do not have to fit neatly into one box. If you are unsure whether comfort or moisture is the main issue, say so. Ask which option is being recommended, why, what it involves and what you should do afterwards. There is no need to switch modes just for variety, and no basis for saying that one mode is always superior or that an ordinary facial cannot be suitable. Customisation is useful when it has a clear reason, not when it simply adds more steps. Our ten-step skincare guide explores the related question of choosing a manageable routine.
Start with our Skin Analysis if you want help organising your cosmetic concerns before booking. Bring the names of your current products and a short description of what you would like to improve the appearance or feel of. d’reena is a beauty house, not a medical provider, and Skin Analysis is not a diagnosis. The goal is a clear, realistic conversation about whether SkinBoost suits you and which direction makes sense today — not a promise that one visit will solve everything. The hero image is an AI-generated editorial illustration of a consultation, not an actual client photograph.
